Parents, this is a final reminder to join us for Providence Academy’s annual College Day scheduled for Wednesday, April 9, we write to share detailed information and reminders with you. We are excited to welcome 100+ post-secondary institutions from around the U.S. (and the world) on Wednesday, April 9.  The college fair is scheduled from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. in Gym A. All Upper School parents are invited to attend. Parents are also invited to attend our featured sessions for parents (while students attend their pre-assigned session). The sessions are scheduled for 12:40 – 1:25 p.m.

Here are FAQs about and a few suggestions for following up with your student and helping him or her to get the most out of College Day:

  • All Grade 10 and 11 students will be assigned to a session based on their survey preference (administered this week during Activity Period sessions). Any student who did not complete the survey will be assigned to a session Students will receive an email no later than Monday, April 7 with their finalized College Day schedule. Grade 9 and Grade 12 students will have special sessions in the early afternoon, followed by fair attendance (for freshmen) and early dismissal (for seniors).
  • As we did for the past few College Days, we have introduced a service to students/families through Strivescan, allowing students (and parents) to use a barcode to scan their contact information at some of the college fair booths.  This service is secure and utilized by many state, regional, and national college fairs across the country.  Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors were given instructions for registering, a process that takes less than 2 minutes (and saves precious time during the college fair in avoiding filling out paper inquiry forms). Parents may register as well using the parent registration information on the same website.
  • You can help your student think about objective and subjective criteria that could be important to his or her college search (and how to know the difference) and have a conversation about any family-related factors or expectations that may impact the search.  Encourage your student to navigate the college fair time purposefully, to have respectful interactions with our college admission guests, and to take full advantage of this unique opportunity to learn about a truly wide range of post-secondary options.  Prior to College Day, we provided freshmen, sophomores, and juniors with instructions for narrowing the list of college visitors to a more manageable number for their conversations during the 75-minute College Fair.

College Day has become one the signature celebratory occasions of each academic year at Providence Academy, and we sincerely hope that this event aids your family’s post-secondary planning.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Sarah Hogan, Director of College Counseling and Alumni Engagement.
