Following the conclusion of Second Semester Exams for the graduating class of 2024, Providence Academy Department Chairs and Administrators have canceled the trial program that offered waivers from select PA semester exams for seniors who sat for a relevant AP exam earlier that month.
In other words, moving forward, all seniors will need to sit for all of their second-semester exams.
PA continues to encourage students to take AP exams each spring, and to take PA courses that help prepare them for these exams.
A primary reason for this is to return to our beneficial pre-Covid practices. In the Spring of 2020, when schools were entirely online, the AP Program scheduled its AP Exams at times that coincided with the dates for PA exams. Offering a waiver from the PA exam allowed students to keep their AP commitments.
After 2020, PA decided to limit the waiver option to seniors only, partly because future AP Exam dates were unknown at the time. Since then, teachers and administrators have observed that AP Exams have returned to their original timeframes and so no conflict remains.
